Laser Engraved Wood

Laser Engraved Wood

Laser engraving and etching on wood are two popular, precise techniques used to burn designs, text, or imagery into wooden surfaces. While they are often used interchangeably, they actually create different depth levels and visual results.

The Difference Between Engraving and Etching:

Laser Engraving: This process actually cuts a deep groove into the wood. The laser beam vaporizes the material, leaving a noticeable, physical cavity. It is highly durable and creates a distinct 3D texture.

Laser Etching: This is a subset of engraving but is much shallower. The laser melts or melts away only the top layer of the wood surface, essentially changing its color and creating a high-contrast mark without changing the texture of the wood drastically.
