Laser Engraved Leather
Laser Engraved Leather
Laser engraving and etching on leather is one of the most elegant, premium applications in the laser processing world. Leather is a natural, carbon-rich material that reacts beautifully to heat, making it a favorite for personalizing wallets, patches, belts, bags, and footwear.
Because leather is an organic material, the laser essentially singes the surface, yielding a permanent, dark, and highly tactile finish.
Engraving vs. Etching Leather:
Laser Etching (Surface Marking): This technique uses a lower power setting to barely singe the very top layer of the leather. It creates a subtle color contrast (usually a darker shade of the leather's natural color) without digging into the material. It keeps the leather surface smooth and is ideal for highly detailed, intricate patterns.
Laser Engraving (Deep Cavities): This method uses higher power to deeply ablate and vaporize the leather fibers, creating a distinct, recessed 3D de-bossed effect. This is highly durable and excellent for bold logos, text, and accent borders, though going too deep can weaken the structural integrity of the leather.
