Engraving vs. Etching Brass: What is the Difference?

Because brass is a highly reflective and thermally conductive metal, the approach changes depending on the depth and style of the mark you want to achieve.

Laser Etching (Surface Marking): This process micro-melts the very top layer of the brass. It doesn't cut deep into the metal, but instead alters its surface texture to create a high-contrast mark. On raw brass, etching often yields a dark, oxidized, or frosted look.
